Here we go.

I figure its only fair for me to start posting again now that I can finally
connect to the internet. We’ve been having some rather bad weather lately including a blizzard that lasted several days. Practically couldn’t see a thing. It looks like our heater is starting to go south. Last night it started making an awful noise that sounded like a medium sized rodent being beaten over and over. At least they say it should be fixed soon. Anyway I got a couple good pictures yesterday after the clouds were gone. Without further ado the pictures.

Just got a load of packages today, the bulk of which are through anysoldier.com. I’ve gotta say I expected I little extra mail from joining anysoldier but wow. The amount of people willing to give to soldiers over seas is amazing. If any of you readers want to send anything overseas but not to anyone specific I would recommend trying anysoldier.com. Hopefully we will be able to take the bulk of the stuff down to the villiage we sponsor soon. I will post pictures of our trip to the villiage when we make it. But I just wanted to say thank you to all those great people who sent my guys packages. Till later.

Stinking
11 December, 2006
I think its fair to say I stink now. Been having shower issues for about 5 or 6 days now. Whew I think Im ready to take a whore’s bath (aka using bottled water to shower.) Its just a pain in the arse not to have how water to use, especially when it’s so cold. I am going to wait till midday, since the sun sets at 4:30. Late afternoon gets too cold around here. Aside from a shower I cant wait to actually get mail. Most of us have had stuff sent to us but somehow it hasn’t made it to us yet. Im just glad we have this internet connection. Till Later

I ate me some Iraqi food today, and sat around with my gracious hosts for a half hour making a pathetic atempt to communicate. I really need to start learning arabic. Anyhow that food was great. I had some chicken and rice in grape leaves, pita, and some tea. I hope I can do that at least a few more times before I leave. It was the most fun I’ve had since I got here. Till next time.

Whew.

Another run, another deflated lung. This place is great for PT. So far this time in Iraq has been fun. Albeit not saturday getting shitfaced watching NCAA football with my friends fun but, more pleasurable than being in the army in the states fun. Im having a coffee crisis as we speak. I have a grinder and whole beans but nothing to make a decent cup o joe with. (Having the grinder with ground coffee sitting, making my CHU smell like coffee doesn’t help.) Hopefully this Iraqi I made a deal with will come through on the coffee maker. Till Later.

Who’da thunk it?

It is actually cold in Iraq. Where I am sitting has a low of about 25 plus winds like back in El Paso. We have a bunch of heaters but every time the power fluxuates they cut off so in the morning you wake up and it’s about 12 C. Well, at least we get to play with fire. We incinerate our trash, so to get the fire going we slop some JP8 on it.
